How to pick and store flower seeds

Autumn is the season when the flower seeds mature, and the seeds must be harvested to master the maturity and maturity of the seeds. Seeds mature sooner or later, even if the same flower and tree, it is not possible to mature at the same time, to be used with the harvest, so as to avoid the seed rotten or ripe scattered. When harvesting seeds, select early-flowering or early-mature seeds. Such seeds germinate early in the year after sowing, and the seedlings are robust, and flowering sooner. If a pattern or color variation is found, the plants should be harvested separately and planted separately, which may breed new varieties.
The method of harvesting flower seeds differs depending on the type of flower. Some can take off the whole flower and take it after air drying, such as cockscomb and a bunch of red. After the berries are picked, they should be placed in water, rubbed with hands to wash away the pulp, and the seeds should be cleaned and dried, such as gold and silver eggplant and coral beans. Some flowers, after the fruit matures, the peels are cracked and the seeds are ejected, such as crape myrtle and impatiens. Therefore, the fruit should be harvested from green to tan when harvested in time to avoid seed loss. There are also some bulbous flowers, such as dahlia, canna, and mosaics, which should be excavated in time to avoid frost damage. After the bulbs are dug out and aired, they are put indoors for sand trapping.
All kinds of seeds should not be exposed to sunlight, and should be dried in the ventilated place, otherwise it will affect the germination rate. After drying, the seeds should be stored in a ventilated place. Attention should be paid to moisture prevention, smoke prevention and rodent protection.
Flower storage methods are commonly used dry storage, sand storage, water storage three.
First, dry possession. Most flower seeds can be collected by this method. The seeds are dried first, and the impurities are removed and filled into gauze-stitched bags, such as a string of red, cockscomb, violet jasmine and the like. Do not pack in airtight plastic bags or glass bottles to prevent air breathing and affect seed breathing. The seed bag can be hung in a cool, ventilated place and kept at a room temperature of 5°C to 10°C.
Second, sand. The collected seeds such as peony, peony, and magnolia can be stored in low-temperature wet sand at 0°C to 5°C. The moisture content of the sand is appropriate to be "hands in a group and one touch is loose." Such seeds have a period of dormancy under natural conditions, and they mature after being dormant. Sowing is generally done in the spring and removed from the sand one month before sowing.
Third, the water reservoir. Some flower seeds should be stored in water after harvest, such as water lily seeds. The water temperature used in the water reservoir is generally required to be around 5°C. Below 0°C, the seeds will be subjected to freezing injury and the buds will be affected.
