Graduate students eat instant noodles for a month to get stomach cancer? Who eats pickled vegetables leftovers, is easy to get stomach cancer? In recent years, various legends concerning the onset of gastric cancer have seen networks and newspapers from time to time. In fact, China is also a real "big nation" of gastric cancer - 680,000 new cases are found each year, accounting for about half of the global total, and the number of deaths accounts for about 50% of the world's total. Recently, the reporter learned at the inaugural meeting of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) Expert Committee on Gastric Cancer and the first CSCO Summit on Gastric Cancer that it is indeed easier for people with stomach cancer to “get eyebrows†on people with unhealthy dietary habits. However, if gastric cancer is detected early, it can be treated standardly. The 5-year survival rate of patients with I-III gastric cancer is expected to reach 60%.
Leftover pickles or stomach cancer "hands"
As one of the most common malignant tumors, gastric cancer is undoubtedly a major killer that threatens human life. Data statistics show that there are approximately 680,000 new cases of gastric cancer in China each year, accounting for about half of the total global incidence, and the number of deaths accounts for about 50% of the world's total. It is worth noting that most of the gastric cancer patients in China have been diagnosed with advanced disease, and the 5-year survival rate is less than 30%.
The pathogenic factors of gastric cancer are mentioned. The current medical community is more specific about Helicobacter pylori infection, followed by the occurrence of gastric cancer and dietary habits. According to Professor Zhou Zhiwei, director of the Department of Gastric Surgery at Cancer Center of Sun Yat-sen University, “Unhealthy eating habits can easily induce gastric cancer, often eating high salt, pickled foods, and leftovers. These bad eating habits may increase the incidence of gastric cancer.â€
In fact, due to the differences in dietary habits, the occurrence of gastric cancer has a distinct regionality on a global scale. "For example, the incidence of gastric cancer is high in the northwest and northeast regions of China, and the lower the incidence rate is, the more it goes southwards," Zhou Zhiwei said.
Standardized treatment 5-year survival rate up to 60%
Since gastric cancer is often used as an ordinary gastritis and other stomach diseases, most of the patients with gastric cancer have been diagnosed at the middle and late stages. The degree of difficulty and recovery of surgery is not optimistic. The 5-year survival rate is less than 30%. Therefore, improving the 5-year survival rate of patients is a key goal for the study and clinical treatment of gastric cancer in China.
"The patients with low resection rate and advanced cases of postoperative recurrence are very common in the clinic. They urgently need more effective drugs and treatment programs to prolong their lives," said Professor Li Jin, the chairman of the CSC designate, saying: " Irregular treatment can have unimaginable consequences for gastric cancer patients."
"Like gastric cancer radical surgery, lymph node dissection must be carried out, and must be thoroughly and clean sweep." Zhou Zhiwei introduced, standard treatment is first reflected in the surgical specification. "As a major measure for the non-surgical treatment of gastric cancer, the medical treatment of oncology has a definite therapeutic effect, which can help patients relieve symptoms and improve their quality of life," added Li Jin.
"In addition, comprehensive treatment has a great effect on improving the cure rate and reducing the recurrence rate of patients, but at present there are many non-standard behaviors in these local and primary hospitals." Xu Ruihua, Director of Cancer Center of Sun Yat-sen University The professor explained further: "This is mainly reflected in three aspects: Preoperative chemotherapy does not achieve standardized choices; chemotherapy drug choices are not precise enough; drug dosages and treatment arbitrariness are large."
In view of the fact that China's current gastric cancer diagnosis and treatment needs to be standardized, CSCO has published the "CSCO Gastric Cancer Treatment Guidelines" this year, which has provided standardized guidance for the treatment of gastric cancer. "At present, in hospitals with higher treatment levels, 5-year survival rates for patients with stage I-III can be increased to 50%-60% if they can get standardized treatment."
Robots help see more clearly and accurately
In addition to the problem of normalization, the clinical application of new technologies for the treatment of gastric cancer has also been a hot topic of concern in recent years. The reporter learned at the meeting that new technologies such as laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and intraoperative navigation lymph node dissection have been validated in clinical treatment of early-stage gastric cancer patients. Basically, no bleeding can be achieved during surgery, and postoperative recovery is fast. Patients with early gastric cancer bring a gospel.
According to Xu Ruihua's introduction, robotic surgery with its 15 times three-dimensional view and flexible robotic arm allows the operator to see more clearly and operate more accurately. "With robotic surgery, the surgeon's life cycle can be extended by 10 years, dazzling is not afraid, and back pain is not afraid." Zhou Zhiwei said with a smile. (Lee Wong Wang Yan)
Disposable Piercing Guide - WPTC5
A Disposable Laparoscopic Trocar is a medical device used in minimally invasive surgery to create a small incision in the abdominal wall for the insertion of surgical instruments and a camera. It consists of a sharp, pointed tip that is inserted through the skin and into the abdominal cavity, and a sleeve that provides a pathway for the surgical instruments. Once the trocar is inserted, the sleeve is locked in place and the instruments can be inserted and removed through it. Disposable laparoscopic trocars are designed for single-use only to prevent the risk of infection and cross-contamination. They are available in different sizes and shapes to accommodate various surgical procedures.
