The “948†Dairy Cow Embryo Transplantation Project of the Ministry of Agriculture, undertaken by the Animal Husbandry Department of Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, was well-received. The first recipients of the transplanted cattle had successfully produced 4 purebred Holstein cows.
According to relevant experts, the successful implementation of the embryo transfer project has filled the gaps in cow breeding with yellow cattle in Anhui Province, and will play a positive role in promoting the improvement of cow breeds in Anhui Province and improving the yield, dairy product quality and aquaculture efficiency of dairy cows. The project with a total investment of 1.1 million yuan was approved by the "948" Office of the Ministry of Agriculture at the end of 2001. It is planned to be completed in three years. It aims to introduce advanced foreign embryonic embryos and adopt advanced embryo transfer technology. Purebred Holstein cow embryos are transplanted into the local cattle to continue their pregnancy, producing high-quality, high-yielding purebred dairy cows. The project was officially launched in early 2002. Up to now, the four purebred Holstein cows have had a gratifying growth situation, weighing more than 32 kilograms.
