How to build a pond

When choosing a farm, pay attention to conditions such as surrounding terrain, mudflats, seawater pollution, relative seawater density, and water depth. Based on the experience of muddy farms around the country, a good site should have the following basic conditions:

(1) Tide area: It is most suitable to locate the intertidal zone between the high tide area and the middle tide area, which is located in Neiwan, where the wind and waves are calm, the flow is smooth, the inclination is small, and the terrain is flat. Because of this sea area, there are many opportunities for tidewater inflow and outflow. There is abundant food in ponds, fresh water quality, favorable muddy growth, low pond position, high seawater salinity, and more enemy predators, which is not conducive to the growth of loach.

(2) Substrate: Any soft mud bottom or sandy bottom that does not contain gravel and humus is suitable for the loach habitat and growth.

(3) Salinity: The salinity of seawater is between 13.04 ‰ and 26.18 ,. If the salinity is too high, the pupa grows slowly, and the fleas developed are lean and taste salty.

(4) Water temperature: It is better to use 10°C-30°C, especially in the range of 15°C-28°C.

Qiantang Building Method

China's loach breeding is mainly based on pond raising. The construction of the pond is determined by the topography. There are two kinds of round and square. Qiantang area is 1300-2000 square meters. The construction of the pond is to form a pond embankment around the line. The embankment is 1.3-1.65 meters high, the embankment is 1 meter wide, and the width of the embankment is 1.65-2.65 meters. It is slightly trapezoidal. After the completion of Tong Tong, a water intake shall be dug in the low position to allow the tidewater to enter the pond during high tide; under the pond dike near the harbour, a culvert shall be installed to drain the water, adjust the water level or discharge the water when the fish is damaged. A ditches (commonly known as river clips) must be excavated along the inner side of the pond, and on the side close to the inlet, an inwardly curved earth embankment should be built. This is called a slow-flowing embankment. Its role is to ease the flow velocity when the tide enters. When the pond is in the pond, it will not be flushed directly into the pond, but the seedlings will pile up and affect the growth. In this way, when the tide flows into the pond from the inlet, it is first intercepted by the slow water dike and naturally splits the two tributaries, slowly flows along the river and finally fills the entire pond. The advantage of this structure is that the water temperature in the pond can be kept stable, and there will not be a large temperature difference due to the water in the pond. At the same time, it will not affect the growth due to the sudden flooding of alluvial piles.
