The reporter also noticed that the statistics of the changes in the average prices of major foods in 50 cities across the country announced by the Statistics Bureau in early January also showed that 28 of the 29 kinds of foods rose.
Monitoring by the Ministry of Commerce showed that the average wholesale price of 18 kinds of vegetables rose by 6.1%. Among the 18 species of vegetables, there were 16 species. The prices of green peppers, peppers, canola, eggplants, cucumbers, bitter gourd, and melon rose by more than 10%, which were up 15.9%, 15.1%, 15.0%, 13.2%, 12.2%, and 11.3% respectively. 11.1%; ginger prices fell by 1.4%. Wholesale prices of vegetables in Taiyuan, Chengdu, Hohhot, Jinan, Hefei, and Zhengzhou all rose by over 10%. The Ministry of Commerce estimates that vegetable prices in the latter period will continue to maintain a slight upward trend.
The monitoring also showed that the wholesale price of pork rose by 0.2%; the retail price of edible oil rose by 0.2%, of which the retail prices of soybean oil, peanut oil and rapeseed oil rose by 0.3%, 0.3% and 0.1% respectively; the domestic retail price of small package flour rose by 0.4%. People from the Ministry of Commerce pointed out that due to the effect of the national regulatory policies, the prices of wheat in the market have remained steady and weak since the beginning of the new year, and the pressure on the cost of raw materials for flour has weakened. It is expected that the retail price of flour will remain stable in the later period.
In addition, due to the peak of preparations before the Spring Festival, the consumption of sugar is higher, and the domestic retail price of sugar rose by 0.6% last week. At present, during the concentration period of the crop season, the supply of sugar has increased steadily. The Ministry of Commerce expects that domestic sugar prices will increase slightly in the later period.
