Hey there! I've been meaning to sit down and write something meaningful for days now, but life has been absolutely chaotic. Between juggling work deadlines and spending precious time with my kids, it feels like every moment slips through my fingers before I even notice it. You know that feeling, right? The end of yet another exhausting week, and I'm already dreading the next one. But here's the silver lining: after all this hustle and bustle, I'm finally getting a chance to breathe. And while I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities I've had, I can't wait to slow down and recharge in the cozy corner of my home with my little ones.

Today, I want to introduce you to someone who has always managed to inspire me at just the right moments—my dear friend Briony from Outside The Lines. She has this incredible knack for reminding us that life is a story we're constantly writing, and it's never too late to start rewriting the chapters that aren't serving us anymore. I think you'll love her perspective as much as I do!

A couple of days ago, Tabitha reached out and asked if I'd be interested in writing a guest post for her blog. My immediate thought was, "What on earth do I have to offer that anyone would find interesting?" Suddenly, I was flooded with nerves. I'm not an expert in anything, but I figured the best way to approach this was to share something I'm genuinely passionate about and hope it resonates with others. So here goes—I'm going to share a few steps I've been implementing to rewrite the story of my life for the better.

I recently read a book by Donald Miller called A Million Miles In A Thousand Years. In it, he challenges readers to view their lives as stories being written with every decision they make. If you're not happy with the story you're living, you have to start making changes. If you're not loving the characters in your story, it's time to surround yourself with people who inspire you. I absolutely loved this book—it gave me motivation and clarity to start making small but significant adjustments in my own life. Since this is a blog post and not a novel, I'll focus on just one aspect of the changes I've been working on.

Let me tell you, my schedule has been packed to the brim lately. From sunrise to bedtime, there's always something demanding my attention—a meeting to attend, a task to complete, or a commitment to honor. At the start of the year, I took some time to reflect on how I spend my time. What I discovered was that I was dedicating most of my energy to activities that didn't bring me joy. It was clear I needed to make some changes. Now, we all know that wanting change is one thing, but actually following through is another beast entirely. To ensure lasting results, I knew I had to take things slowly and steadily.

The very first thing I did was carve out space in my calendar to dream again. Life gets so hectic, responsibilities pile up, and we often forget to take a step back and imagine the kind of story we want to be living. Without giving ourselves permission to dream freely, those aspirations remain out of reach. So, here are the steps I'm taking to create a life that feels worth telling.

Step 1: Schedule time to dream. Whether it's an hour in the morning or a quiet evening at home, block off time to let your imagination run wild. Stop holding onto life so tightly and allow yourself to envision the life you truly desire. Often, we stifle our dreams simply because we don't allocate enough time to explore them.

Once you've identified your dream, it's time to chase it. Remember, we only get one shot at this story, and the older we get, the faster the chapters fly by. Don't put off your dreams for tomorrow—start pursuing them today.

Which brings me to Step 2: Be courageous. Yes, change can be terrifying, but it's worth it. Like any journey, transformation happens gradually, so don't expect everything to fall into place overnight. The key is to take one small step toward your dream. That first step is usually the hardest, but trust me, it's also the most rewarding.

As soon as you begin making changes, new challenges will inevitably arise. Step 3: Identify those obstacles. Be honest with yourself about your fears and doubts. Set goals to overcome them, and don't let anyone belittle your dreams. Stand firm in your convictions.

In Step 4: Share your story, remember that strong relationships are your greatest allies. Talk about your dreams and struggles with trusted friends or family members. Lean on their support and hold each other accountable. Life feels lighter when you share it with others.

Step 5: Help someone else achieve their dream. I truly believe that what we sow in life, we will eventually reap. If you have the chance to uplift, encourage, or guide someone else in pursuing their passion, seize the opportunity. Being that kind of supportive person enriches your own story as well.

Before I sign off, I want to leave you with this: when I first began this journey, I felt lost and overwhelmed. If you're in that place right now, take a moment to think about something you used to love doing that makes you smile just by remembering it. Got it? Your mission this weekend is to go do it!

Life is full of obligations, but why not make room for the things that bring you joy? Start writing the story you want to live. Happy Friday, everyone!

Warmly,
Briony
