The main pest control technology of litchi longan

There are over 50 species of insect pests that affect litchi and longan trees, with five major pests commonly identified: litchi scale, litchi stinkbug, litchi tip moth, longan borer, and longan horned beetle. The first four pests damage both litchi and longan, while the longan horned beetle only affects longan. In our province, litchi and longan crops suffer the most from these pests, making effective pest control a crucial part of orchard management. In terms of control methods, integrated pest management is essential for both crops. For longan, four main spraying applications are typically carried out annually. The first application occurs after spring pruning, around early March when the new shoots reach 5–8 cm in length. At this stage, a mixture of 80% trichlorfon diluted to 800 times and 25% chlorpyrifos diluted to 500 times is used to prevent litchi scale and hibiscus bugs. Depending on the presence of tiny moths or Gaillai moths, 10% high-efficiency cypermethrin can be added at a 3000-times dilution. The second application takes place during the early mid-May flowering period. A 10% high-efficiency cypermethrin solution diluted to 3000 times or 80% trichlorfon at 500 times is applied to target litchi pupae and nymphs. The third spray happens in late June to early July, following the initial fruit picking. At this time, 200–3000 times diluted liquid is used to control moth infestations, along with simultaneous treatment for woodlice and litchi scale. For litchi, four to five pesticide applications are generally required each year. The first spray is applied in mid-March during the spring shoot and flower bud stage, focusing on controlling litchi scale. A 10% high-efficiency cypermethrin solution at 3000 times is commonly used. The second application occurs during the young fruit stage, targeting litchi stinkbugs and litchi scale. This is usually done about 10 days after the litchi bloom, using either 10% high-efficiency cypermethrin at 3000 times or 25% chlorpyrifos at 500 times. During the fruit development phase, the third spray focuses on controlling leaf-feeding pests. It is recommended to apply the solution once during rapid fruit enlargement, when the fruit starts to change color, and 20 days before harvest. A 10% cypermethrin solution diluted to 2000–3000 times is highly effective, and it also helps kill eggs. Combining insecticides with dichlorvos can further enhance the results. The fourth application is carried out during the autumn shoot growth stage, targeting pests like peduncle worms, sharp-lined moths, and leaf rollers. A 10% high-efficiency cypermethrin solution at 3000 times is often used, along with other insecticides such as methamidophos or dichlorvos, sprayed when the shoots first emerge. In many regions, farmers face challenges in timing sprays due to inconsistent growing seasons. To improve effectiveness, it is recommended to use 10% high-efficiency cypermethrin alongside 5% emulsifiable concentrate at 1500–2000 times during the young fruit and fruit development stages. This combination not only enhances egg-killing efficiency but also extends the protection period, while effectively managing diseases like sooty mold.

Garlic Powder

Dehydrated Garlic powder refers to garlic that has been dried and ground into a fine powder. It is commonly used as a seasoning in various cuisines.
