Front steering wheel inspection and adjustment method

First, the steering wheel toe inspection method The steering wheel toe commonly used inspection methods are the following three kinds
1 First lift the front of the locomotive and turn the steerable wheels with the steered wheels suspended. Measure the distance between the front end of the two steerable wheels and the distance between the rearmost ends. The difference between the two is the toe-in value. This measurement method has a large error, because there is a gap between the steering knuckle and the kingpin, between the hub bearing and the knuckle, and therefore the state of the steering wheel dangling is not the same as the state when landing.
2 Measured with a pointer beam. Because the front beam length is long, the two measuring feet are flexible, and the thickness of the two-wheel steering tire side is different, which also affects the accuracy of the measurement.
3 Measure with the flat-bed method. Stop the locomotive on a flat surface, mark it at the height of 1/2 behind the two steered wheels, and measure the distance between the two marks. Then push the locomotive forward to make two turns. Turn the wheel 180 degrees, that is, turn the mark to 1/2 of the front height of the two steer wheel tires, and measure the distance between the two marks. The difference between the two measured distances is the toe value of the steering wheel. Then push the locomotive forward, turn the steer wheel 90 degrees, and then measure the front beam value of the steer wheel as described above. Take the average of the two measurement results as the actual toe of the steering wheel of the vehicle. It is also possible to take several more measurements on the tire to eliminate the influence of various factors and obtain a relatively accurate toe value.
Second, the adjustment method of the front steering wheel steering wheel steering beam adjustment is achieved by changing the length of the steering tie rod. The tie rod is elongated, the toe-in value is increased, the tie rod is shortened, and the toe-in value decreases. The following are the general adjustment steps.
1 Loosen the locking bolts at both ends of the steering tie rods.
2 In order to see the number of turns of the tie rod, it is best to use chalk to make a mark on the tie rod and the joint.
3 Use a pipe wrench to twist the tie rod so that it stretches or shortens. 4 After adjusting properly, tighten the locking bolts on the joints at both ends of the tie rods.
