Oh, peas. Those tiny, round, green gems of nutrition — although botanically speaking, they're actually fruits, since they come from the pod of a legume. But who's counting? They're still one of my favorite vegetables, and I'm sure my daughter agrees. She loves them, much to her grandpa's dismay, since he absolutely hates them.
So, this evening for dinner, we made some healthy burritos. My little girl, Aliyah, has blue eyes and a big appetite. She likes to eat her burrito without the tortilla, so she had all the fillings — rice, beans, cheese, and yes, you guessed it, peas! While we were finishing up our meals, my husband and I got lost in a casual conversation, laughing about how different we all are when it comes to food. It’s those little moments that make dinner time special, even if it's just a simple meal with a few peas on the side.
It's amazing how something as simple as a vegetable can bring people together or create a bit of family drama. Either way, I'm grateful for the laughter, the conversation, and the peas — even if not everyone shares my love for them.
