Various pest methods in the cultivation of radical facilities

In order to effectively eliminate pests in greenhouse cultivation, it's essential to install insect-proof nets on all ventilation openings. Before planting seedlings, it's recommended to use high-temperature sheds to kill existing pests and larvae. Seedlings should be carefully selected and introduced into the greenhouse with care. Normally, greenhouses should remain closed and sealed to prevent pests from entering. By following these measures, pest infestations can be significantly reduced or even prevented entirely. Once seedlings are planted and a small number of pests are detected, immediate action is necessary. The best approach is to use diuretic fumigation or smoke-based pest control methods. It’s important to carry out fumigation once every 5 to 7 days for two consecutive times to ensure complete eradication of the pests. When using dichlorvos for fumigation, it's advisable to spray the crops with “Tianda-2116” diluted at 600 times 1 to 2 days prior to treatment. This helps improve the plant's resistance to stress, especially to high concentrations of dichlorvos, thereby reducing the risk of crop damage during fumigation. The optimal time for dichlorvos fumigation is during nighttime when temperatures are lower, allowing for extended exposure time and better effectiveness. Fumigation should begin at 9:00 a.m. on a sunny day and continue until the curtains are drawn on the second day. Afterward, proper ventilation is required. Wait 1 to 2 hours before entering the facility for further management. During this period, high temperatures increase pest respiration, leading to greater drug absorption and more effective pest control. If this process is repeated twice within 5 to 7 days, both adult insects and newly hatched eggs can be eliminated, ensuring long-term pest-free conditions. As long as the greenhouse has properly installed insect-proof nets and all procedures are strictly followed, there will be no need for frequent pesticide spraying, and pest problems can be kept under control. During fumigation, it's crucial to monitor the temperature inside the greenhouse. If the temperature becomes too high at noon, some shade cloth can be used to reduce heat and protect the crops from potential damage. Additionally, whiteflies are strongly attracted to yellow. To manage them, yellow cardboard strips measuring 10.2 cm in width can be cut and coated with a layer of viscous oil—made by mixing 10th motor oil with a little butter. These cards should be evenly distributed throughout the greenhouse, with about 30 to 35 pieces per acre. They should be hung at the same height as the plants to effectively trap adult whiteflies and reduce their population. Once the cards become covered with dust or lose their stickiness, they can be re-oiled, ideally every 7 to 10 days. This method provides an eco-friendly and efficient way to manage whitefly infestations.
